Help System Guide:
The BroadCast DeskTop™ (BCDT) is available for Windows (98, NT, 2000, XP and Vista) and for Apple (OSX 10.4 and higher - PowerPC and Intel). The following documentation is for both the Windows and Apple versions. Windows specific instructions are highlighted in blue while Apple specific instructions will be highlighted in red.

Please note, detailed help instructions are available from within your specific BroadCast DeskTop by selecting HELP from the program menu, dock or system tray. The following instructions are a general guideline. Graphics and button/menu placement may be different than your actual program.

Overview:
The BroadCast DeskTop is a program that runs in the background, taking up very little system resources. The program will periodically check for updates and display messages specifically for your when they are available.

Requirements:
Apple: OS X (10.4 or higher), QuickTime (version 6.0 or higher), broadband Internet connection, PowerPC or Intel
Windows: Windows 98 (2nd edition) , 2000, XP or Vista, QuickTime (version 6.0 or higher), broadband Internet connection.

Installation Help:

Windows users:
Step 1: Download and save the file.

Step 2: Double click the downloaded file.

Step 3: Follow on screen instructions within the installation program.


Apple Users:
Step 1: Download and save the file.

Step 2: Double click the downloaded file.

Step 3: A new drive icon will appear on your desktop after completing Step 2.

Step 4: Open the new drive and double click the package file.

Step 5: Follow on screen instructions within the installation program.




Text Messages :
The BroadCast DeskTop delivery system retrieves and displays important news and informationin directly to your desktop in the main window shown below from the company or organization whos logo is displayed. Both text messages and graphic messages can be shown.

A window will automatically appear when new messages are available or when manually requested by:
Windows: Right clicking the program icon in the System Tray and selecting "Messages".
Apple: CTRL-Clicking the program icon and selecting "Open"

If manually requested and if no messages are available, "No text messages to display at this time." will be displayed in the message window.




Graphical Messages:
The BroadCast DeskTop displays graphical messages in addition to the text messages in order to display important news and information, coupons, videos, and interactive content. Shown below is a typical graphical message that might be encountered. The image below shows the main BroadCast DeskTop window in the upper left and graphical message in the lower right.




Clearing Messages:
To close or clear a graphic or text message, press the clear button shown below. Pressing the "Clear" button will close a graphic message or clear a text message. In both cases the message can be viewed again by selecting the message in the Archived Messages tab.


 

Errors / Troubleshooting:
Although we strive to create error free software, errors can ocurr. If you experience a problem, send an email with a screen shot,if possible, to the email address at the bottom of this page. Most problems can be resolved by simply re-installing. However, if your particular issue can't be resolved by a re-install, please contacts us at the email address at the bottom of this page.

Removing / Uninstall:
To uninstall the BroadCast DeskTop delivery system. Quit the program then:

Windows: From Add/Remove Programs located in the Control Panel, select the program name and select remove. A reboot will be required to remove all the items from the system.

Apple: Locate the program in the Applications folder and drag the folder to the trash can.
